Solco Choice Electric is one of Australia's largest, oldest and most respected wholesalers of solar power and solar water pumping systems. Today, as a fully-owned subsidiary of Solco Ltd, it has offices and warehouses in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Murwillumbah, reliably providing its national customer network with quality equipment and technical support.

Solar Energy Systems (now Solco Ltd) was formed in 1979 in Perth. John Cooper began the operations of Choice Electric in Murwillumbah in 1983 under the name of Makadola Pty Ltd, changing it to Choice Electric Co. (Aust) Pty Ltd in 1989. It was acquired by Solco Ltd in 2004. From day one of operations, both businesses were epitomised by their focus on customer service and quality products, a direction which continues today.

The GridPower^® solar home system kit was developed in 2003 by Choice Electric Co., to assist customers when ordering. It was also developed to allow Choice Electric customers to 'piggyback' on marketing activities under the generic GridPower^® brand. This branding has continued, with brochures, exhibition material and development of the GridPower^® website, to allow customers to leverage these materials for their own sales and marketing activities.

In 2004, Choice Electric became a fully-owned subsidiary of Solco Ltd, and now operates under the branding of Solco Choice Electric. In 2008, the RemotePower kit concept for off-grid home systems was developed, whilst in 2009, Solco Choice Electric took over responsibility for the wholesaling of the Sun Mill™ solar pumping products, previously the responsibility of Solco Solar Pumping Division.
